Regional Hubs

Our aim is to support the formation of UK regional food hubs and then work with each hub to implement Dynamic Food Procurement in their region.

We have proposed 12 regions for the UK (see map below) and DPUK Food aims to support one food hub for each region to bring all stakeholders together and ensure an efficient and compliant approach to implementing Dynamic Food Procurement.

Role of the Regional Hub

The role of the Regional Food Hub is to lead the journey to Dynamic Food Procurement in the region by working with anchor institutions, food producers, suppliers and logistics providers.

Typical activities of individuals participating in a regional food hub for Dynamic Food Procurement include:

  • Speaking to anchor institutions and producers/suppliers/logistics providers within your area of the region to gain commitment to implement DFP (about 80% of the work)

  • Holding Zoom meeting educational webinars every 6-8 weeks:

    • Explain what DFP is and why it’s important (Supported by DPUK resources)

    • Explain how to implement DFP (Supported by DPUK resources)

    • Share progress within your local area within the region

    • Answer questions from people in other areas of the region to enable them to start work in their locality within the region
